From Jamaica with Love

I'm so excited to blog about this coffee. It's been a while since I've tasted a new blend/brand of coffee, and I want to share it with you all. As you all know, I have a dear friend, my PR Sis, who enjoys traveling to the Caribbean. Recently, she vacationed in Jamaica. And as always, I travel with her vicariously, and when she returns, I get a special gift package of coffee.
This is from Jamaica with Love!
She wrote to me, "It is IMPERATIVE that you remember three things."
Recognized how much you are loved
Know that even when I am on vacation, you are attached to my love
I'm getting old because, unbeknownst to me, I got you two packs of coffee LOL
I replied, I'm so excited! Never doubted your love because it's mutual!
On this trip, I was fortunate to receive a package with drawings of hearts and inside two brands of Jamaican coffee. I received the package late in the afternoon, and as tempted as I was to try the coffee then, I waited until the next morning. The excitement woke me up early, around 6:15 am. The coffee beans were beautifully wrapped in a light brown mesh cloth with a blue label that read, Premium Plantation Blue 100% Jamaican Blue Mountain Coffee, Medium Roasted Beans. And as you all know, I prefer beans to ground coffee. Inside the mesh, the beans were vacuum sealed. When I cut open the seal, the aroma transported me to the Caribbean. It's a moment when everything stops and you're immersed in visions of palm trees and mountains, LOL. If you love coffee, you know what I mean. It was hard to contain my excitement, and I prayed the coffee tasted as good as that aroma. Once I ground the beans, even Boomer came into the kitchen sniffing the air as he always does when I'm cooking. The aroma was of roasted cocoa with a hint of sweetness. I knew I was in for a treat!
Just a little trivia before I reveal the results of my tasting – Blue Mountain coffee can be traced back to the mid-1700s when the first coffee plant arrived in Jamaica.
I immediately felt the need to brew this coffee in multiple ways, starting with the old-fashioned Moka Pot, also known in Spanish as the "Greca". It's the version of the espresso machine, but using your stovetop. When the ground coffee met the water, it was an instant marriage. The aroma of slightly roasted cocoa - its sweetness lingered in the air. I couldn't contain my excitement, nor could Boomer, pacing back and forth.
For those of you who like your coffee black without sugar, you are in for a treat! You can immediately taste a hint of sweetness with a lightly bitter, non-lingering aftertaste. However, for those who enjoy a splash of warm or foamed milk with sugar, this coffee is a hit! WOW!!! You want to savor this coffee while sitting or walking in your favorite spot without interruption or conversation. It took me to a happy place on a cliff, watching the ocean and palm leaves swaying in the breeze. It leaves you with a yearning for more.
I also have another Jamaican coffee to share with you all. Remember, my PR Sis got me two brands of coffee. However, you'll have to wait a few weeks for my review of the second one, as I continue to enjoy Plantation Blue in various coffee drinks.
The Plantation Blue is a must-try!

I must visit Jamaica!
